Amazon Announces Northern Virginia for New HQ2 Location as Part of $5 Billion Plan
Good news techies and lovers of free same-day delivery, Amazon is coming to Northern Virginia!
On Tuesday, the Seattle-based tech giant made the announcement that they will be opening a second headquarters in Crystal City, Virginia.
Amazon revealed that their $5 billion plan is to hire 25,000 employees in 2019 and even more in the future. This should help increase the average household income in the area as skilled employees can expect to receive salaries in the $150,000 /year range.
The “HQ2” Amazon office, as they’re calling it, will most certainly create tremendous economic development in NoVA and the surrounding areas. Current and future Alexandria and Arlington homeowners can expect major investment put into education and transportation in the area.
Amazon moving in should also create more demand for Northern Virginia housing. With the current low supply of housing, the increase in demand by 25,000+ new employees and their families will increase the value of both condos and houses.
And while not all the new employees are guaranteed to buy homes, others will will opt to rent, making now a good time for investors to buy rental investment properties.
